Low tech Chargers
« on: October 14, 2020, 11:25:12 PM »

These are my low tech chargers.
The top one has a divider in the center and holds shot and powder. Made from brass tubing and friction fit caps.
The 4 at an angle are brass tubing without a divider and are for either powder or shot.
The two bottom ones are river cane with a natural divider, so they hold shot and powder with with cork stoppers.

I really liked the chargers in the other thread and so I made a version that wouldn't hurt my poor old brain.  I made the powder chargers that are at an angle years ago.  A word of advise grease the small ends if your going to put powder in them. It won't migrate to the powder. But the powder will oxidize the brass. I used to have 6 of the powder chargers. Could not get the tops off after corrosion.

I’m digging the cane ones. If you had a string to hold the corks from getting lost you’d really be set.

Well done, I was thinking along the same lines. A string through the divider and then the corks was my thought.

Well I have made the rest of the chargers. If I load at the truck and with the 6 chargers 4 brass 2 cane. I'll have 8 shots. Which should get me my limit of pheasants on the right day. then I found an old tin in my junk and put a divider in it to carry my wads in. Now 6 more shots that I can carry in my pocket. Just to make some of you feel better we got 15" of snow last night.

That's a nice outfit Jackley. I'm liking the cane chargers also.
