I finished number 80 way back in June of this year. Did numbeer 81 in July and had it at Dixon's and the CLA, sold it last
week. Am now working on number 82, the fifth gun this year, and it a J.P.Beck, complete with all the normal hardware.
Am planning on putting a wood box on it, and a silver thumb piece with the owners initials. Nice curly piece of wood but
too soft to do any carving. I shaped the forend this afternoon, and, I looked down in one of my drawers of my work bench and saw that block plane. I remembered someone talking about using them, so I gave it a try.....best new thing
I have learned in a long time, it not only saves time but it works great...who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Will have to get some pictures posted when it's finished.....44" octagon to round 54 cal. barrel...nice long and slender,
looking pretty good............Don
