Sheath for Robert Hill Horn Handled Knife
« on: December 10, 2020, 11:41:38 PM »
I just finished this unadorned sheath for a horn handled knife by Robert Hill.  3-4 ounce cowhide, saddle stitched by hand.  Linen waxed thread.  Welted.  In my opinion, these things can be harder to make than a bag.  Lots of elements in a very small space.  I can see why gunmakers can prefer rifle work to pistol work.  :-)  Close to a vinegaroon colored finish.  God Bless,   Marc

Thank you Wayne.  Robert does some really neat knives.  I have to resist adopting any more knives from Robert or Walter.  Sort of like you and gathering up longrifles.

I am not sure if Robert is keeping this horn handled knife for himself or not, but you can PM him and ask.   :-)

God Bless,   Marc

That sheath really compliments the knife and in my humble opinion, adds a lot of value to the package.

Looks all good to me my friend, hope the patch knife, stag handled knife, and bone handled knife are all serving well.

Very nice Marc and I agree, sometimes the smaller items, simplicity in looks, but can be a PIA to sew up.  Many details before the items begins to look like it's supposed to be.  Good job.

Marc, you did a fine job...that’s some very neat work, and a fitting accessory for that fine blade.
