Finish for polished metal
« on: December 29, 2020, 10:39:38 AM »
Has anyone used the products listed below to protect bare metal after polishing? Something like a coin finish. Any suggestions?
Thanks Richard

No.  Apart from cleaning after shooting, and rubbing with a soft cloth, I let metals that tarnish, tarnish.

The best stuff for this bar none is Cerakote. Unfortunately, it is very expensive. It won't peel and no chemical will remove it, I mean none. Baking lacquer is a joke.

I’m building another rifle that has a stainless barrel that I need to blue and Cerakote came up also. I need to find out what the minimum coating thickness is. Thanks Jerry.
