Here is something I finished up this week. In between cutting, baling and picking up 500 bales of hay. It is a close copy of the marino modena horn.

Now that looks like it has been through many hands and maybe reworked over the years either through need or modernization. Neat horn, Thanks for the pics.

You've 'antiqued' this one beautifully Scott. Did you use some rawhide for the wrap?
Thanks for sharing with us.

Scott,
Looks real good Scott. Is Merino Modena the one who carried a brown bess musket during the fur trade days?

Mariano Modeno. a Bess. I vaguely remember a Bess in there someone with one of the Western Mtn Men. I cant remember. The horn, his bag and rifle, A Fancy Hawken, reside in Colorado. That was a fun diversion from haying.

Unless there is another Scott Morrison, I just met your father in law, Robert W Philburn III. Nice fellow.

Nice job Scott - I've got several pics of the original horn if you're interested. The horn along with Modena/Medina's Hawken Rifle, pouch, and other gear now resides in a private museum in northern New Mexico.
Manuel Lisa is the gent who reputedly carried a cut down Bess........
