On a production basis, is could speed things up by eliminating the need to time the breech plug. They could wrench the stub into the barrel. Add some flux and braze to the cavity. Clamp the hooked breech shell in place. Run argon down the bore. Then heat it with an induction coil. If you had all the parts and tools it would be faster than hand fitting a plug.
