David, I have never been drawn to a 3/4 stocked rifle......until now.  That is an amazingly appealing rifle.  You added just the right touches.  Anything more would detract.  That long tang looks like it took some patience and cussing to get right.  I like the metal finish, and it is surpassed only by the warm glow of the wood.  I cannot read the barrel writing?  I think I see Rase on there?  Well done sir, well done indeed.  God Bless,   Marc

Fantastic artistry!  Love the wood under rib.  Are the punched circles fore and aft of the rear sight simply a decorative embellishment or were they considered as a way to cut down on glare/heat shimmer?  I'm assuming you took it off an original Lawing rifle - was this circle design strictly his trademark or did other Unicoi makers use it as well?
Cheers,
Joe

Joe, I don't think those circles were used as a way to cut down on glare, these guns were not fired shot after shot like we do on the firing line today at our modern shoots.  Just like Bull has a star stamp in his tool kit to embellish his rifles, Lawing had his circle stamp.  I have seen evidence of circle stamps on sights, top barrel flat and muzzle on Lawing rifles.

Dave,
I’m a fan of 3/4 stock rifles and I’m glad to see another out there. Beautiful work! Thanks for posting. Rifles and workmanship like yours inspire me to keep improving.

Now I need to build another for myself. Curses. Another project in the queue.
