1/2 or 5/8 breach

I'm going to officially start on my rifle tomorrow . The barrel has 5/8 deep thread and I was assuming the plug I ordered was gonna be 1/2"so I was ready to trim it back  but it was 5/8 also . My question is will moving the lock forward the extra 1/8" have any bad effects on a very slim wristed rifle ? If I have to trim and time it for 1/2" depth so be it not a big deal or should I just hit the easy button and clock it the way it is now . It's a 13/16 barrel and it's going to be a smallish sized tenn style ,lock is a late ketland if any of that makes a difference

Best thing you could before touching a tool to either wood or metal, is to draw out your future rifle full size.  I do this whether I build from a blank or precarve.  It will help to see if you should have any concerns like your now having.  I use the full-size pics from Track of the Wolf catalog ( copy them using my printer) and lay it on my layout.  A little pre-planning can save ya from some headaches and expensive mistakes.

I do that too most of the time Bob. At least for lock breach area to see how everything is gonna fit, plan where touch hole will be etc.,.

Tim, Both Bob and David's posts are spot on, particularly the one about Track and pictures. If you have a lock in mind, look it up in the Track catalog. All you need to do is measure from the fence to the middle of the pan. That distance should equal your breach plug depth plus 1/8" for touch hole. Trim your barrel and breach plug accordingly.
