1796 Heavy Dragoon Carbine
« on: February 17, 2021, 12:45:08 AM »
There is an interesting article on a British Pattern 1796 Heavy Dragoon Carbine in the March 2021 issue of Guns and Ammo.  It is a flintlock with the lock designed by Henry Nock,  The cock rides inside the lock plate and the working internals are held in place by a removable cover and pins.  Unusual and interesting.

Hi,
They are called Nock's screwless locks because the mechanism is held together with pins between 2 plates.  Most military style firearms with those locks were made for volunteer companies.
