Bag #38 - Hunting Pouch

Hello folks, This bag is pretty straightforward and finishes out an order of three bags for a good friend. For the last one he wanted one a little dressier to go with a nice rifle he has. 3-4 ounce tooling cowhide, Fiebing's Pro Dye, hand sewn with waxed Irish linen thread. Bridle leather lining to flap for body. Inside pocket/stiffener/strap anchor out of bridle leather. 4-5 ounce cowhide straps. Wrought iron buckle. Goatskin rolled inside top edge. Slightly aged look overall was what I was going for. My apologies for the poor photos, as the sun really washed everything out when I tried my usual photo spot. God Bless, Marc

I like it, Marc...it just needs one of Tim’s horns and one of Robert’s knives to complete the set!

Thank you Greg. The truth is that adding a Crosby horn and a Hill knife would make most any bag look nicer. :-)
On this bag I left the flat, un-tooled area of the hinge front as a place for the horn to ride.
Best wishes, and God Bless, Marc

Very nicely done Marc. Really like what you did to the flap, well done.

Really nice Mark -clean and simple- really informs my eyes as I am planning to make my first bag. I like the functionality of the inner pocket, to double as a stiffener and backing for the strap. And the strap sewing pattern is is helpful as well. Lovely touches that are not overdone. (for my tastes...) Thanks for posting this gem, RMann

The main thing to remember on the strap stitching is never stitch straight across the top. That simply makes a "tear-off" perforation line. Thank you for the nice comments RMann. God Bless, Marc
