Problem solved. I stupidly grabbed a bag of .527 balls instead of the .535   This is a Colerain barrel with round bottom grooves.  I don't have my usual .40 cal anymore , since I gifted it to a nice family man, farmer .  What with this pandemic, obtaining a firearm license here in Canada has been problematic for the last year + and he has predator trouble. Since schooling him on the use of a firelock, he has become a convert. 
I hope I get a chance to get out later today and shoot some targets with the .54

I believe I owe everyone who shot this match (all 3 of us so far) who printed their targets in color a big apology. Today was finally cool, slightly overcast and no wind. I went out at 10:00am to shoot my nine. Could not for the life of me see these targets at 50 yards. They were just an orangish blur. Put the bead on what I thought was the center of each target and fired. Here are my best 3. My score is 2-inches total! Just kidding it was 4 7/8 inches so the old guy is in 3rd place (out of 3 shooters). Shot my Don Bruton made .54 caliber "cobbled" together Carolina rifle (featured soon in a Muzzle Blasts article). .530round ball with a.015 greased ticking patch and 75 grains of Goex 3F.

Targets shot.  As per my previous post, the first 4 targets that I shot yesterday were not great.
Very disappointing, but I figured out that I had used the incorrect size balls [ .527 ]  These are a hold over from my 28 bore smoothie.   
I'll post the 3 best of these just to show the difference load components can make

The last 3 are still taped to cardboard from my shooting this evening.
Same .54 rifle, but .535 balls
Total string from ball centre to bull centre for the 3 shots is 1 and 5/16ths inches

Congratulations Bob in the woods. Please message me with your contact information and i will send off your Muskrat pelt. Nice shooting. As there are only 4 of us left shooting this match I really don't see a reason to continue but as this months winner it is up to you.

Good shooting Bob that target is very difficult to find an aiming point at 50 yards.

I was under the impression that we were taking a break from the matches until the Fall.

Col. Muskrat, Sir:  You are VERY consistent, with all shots towards the 10 o'clock position, and all about the same distance from the center.  Try aiming at 4 o'clock, and 1" low, you'll probably give him a few new nostrils.

And as expected, Taylor is extremely consistent as well.  Looks as though there are quite a few good smooth bore shooters.  I hope to join them in the next few months, as all y'all are pretty persuasive shooters.
