British 1776 rifle

Pretty much have this altogether except for the ramrod swivels. I have a question about how to mount the ramrod swivels on this rifle? Do I drill a blind hole and square the bottom before threading or do I drill through through the barrel into the bore and dress the screw heads flush with the rifling as the drawings from the rifle shoppe show. Won't be much metal to thread with a blind hole, about an 1/8th of an inch at most. If I drill through the barrel as shown, when coning the muzzle the screw end will be made smooth to the bore. What are your thoughts?

Hi Peter,
I apologize, I forgot to respond to your message.  As Mike said, blind holes.  The system ended up being pretty weak and disliked.  I suspect many soldiers removed the swivel during service.

Alright then blind holes it is. I was leaning toward blind holes.
