My second Kibler Colonial Longrifle build
«

Here are some photos of my newly finished Kibler Colonial Longrifle. It is .54 and stocked in Cherry.
I embellished the gun just a bit by adding some molding details around the piece, and did some simple incise carving behind the cheek rest. I also added a Toe Plate.
The color was obtained by mixing a few color dye pigments together with a water base. (I did the necessary steps of pre-raising the grain a few times before applying the color). To add a bit more character and an aged look, I used some
bone black
that Kibler offers, using it sparingly around certain areas for accent.
I am looking forward to firing this one. It balances so well and comes up to my eye so naturally.
Thanks for looking!

You did a great job, and the carving is just right.

Thanks for the really nice comments. It's always nice to know the things I am doing are liked by some great folks
.
I really enjoy putting these rifle kits together. They quickly brings me to my favorite part, which is doing the final finishing and detailing. I also like how this rifle handles, well balanced and comes up to the eye very naturally. Another plus is the slightly wider front sight which is a big help for less sharp eyes like mine. I am looking forward to shooting this one soon, and then getting to work on another Kibler Colonial, which will sport a brass patch box.
