Hi Dan,
Nice photos and tutorial on your project.  What are you building?  It appears to be an English fowler?  What lock?  Are the components modern or old?  Looks like good English walnut, my favorite!

I hear ya.  Been working on firewood all summer.  Now archery season is here.  My stickbows need time in the woods.
