Sand casted Kentucky trigger guard
« on: October 28, 2021, 01:48:31 AM »
Casting is new for me but I feel pretty good about how this trigger guard came out. The best part is it only took me three tries to get a good pour.  ;D The master is off of an original Kentucky made rifle. I am going to use the casting on a restoration of another original Kentucky made rifle. Here’s a picture of the original and the casting.

Looks good to me, Jim, just enough oversize to get the detail you need.

That looks great,Jim. Sand casting is something I’ve never tried. I have some forged pieces that I think would be good patterns. The boys and I plan to try some when we get some of our other projects caught up.
