I found this in an antique store in Temecula, Ca. about 30 years ago. No name or initials, but it seems to have a number of makers traits to possibly give a good hint as to the maker.
The barrel is nicely swamped, about 35 cal, rifled, and 46 inches long. Has a long tang with a doll head on the end. The lock is an obvious replacement, but it does work, snaps a cap nicely and would no doubt shoot. The triggers set and work well. The trigger guard is a fancy looking thing and looks to be original to the gun, though maybe bent a bit.
The stock is just plain Maple and fittings are all brass. The hole in the patchbox looks old and well used, but there's no grease or anything in it. The cheek piece is very distinctive and might be a good clue as to the maker, as is the lock screw inlay and the general shape and sort of pointed ends of the wood facing, to you guys that know these guns.
The store owner wanted $350 for it, but I traded him my Thompson Center Hawkin for it. ;-)
