We had our monthly match at Choptank Muzzleloaders yesterday, turned out to be a great confidence builder for me heading into hunting season. Only a 25 yard fun match, turkey paper novelty targets, so I took my light weight .58, single trigger flintlock hunting rifle. Great hunting gun, but not the best offhand target rifle the way I've got it set up. Still, practice heading into the major gun seasons and out of state trips is always a good idea.
Turned out to be a grand day. Shot well, felt good, beautiful weather, won the match and beat one of my best pals by one point, 100-99.
Went home with a 20lb turkey (although everyone who pays and shoots gets one for this match), a smile on my face and an eager attitude for the big bucks and stags to come.
Heck, got home and the Redskins beat the champion Brady Buccaneers and my Caps crushed the hated Penguins, too. Shoulda bought a lottery ticket at some point I guess.
