Lobed Powder Horn
« on: February 09, 2022, 05:44:31 PM »
A new Powder Horn I just finished (#12)
This "lobed"style Powder Horn is found during the French and Indian War period.
This horn features a scrimshaw map of a part the lower Chesepeake Bay and, on the obverse side, is an original motto of mine, along with my initials.

Another fine looking horn Bob.  I like your engraving style.  The yellow or caramel shades you are using are very pleasing.  God Bless,   Marc

Thank you Marc and Rich!
Looking at the scribings now I see that I will be paying more attention to the fine cross-hatching and shading lines a lot more. They seem too willy-nilly and should be more uniform in direction (like on a woodcut) I think.

Well done horn, beautifully executed and us very graceful in it's shape.

Thanks folks- I had fun with this one. I thought about what to etch on the obverse side of the map and for a day I couldn't decide. Nothing seemed right. Then it occurred to me to just do my initials. I guess it's mine, now LOL!~
