Skunk fur whole hide tobacco pouch
« on: January 20, 2022, 05:58:02 AM »
I found an original skunk fur tobacco bag on the internet a couple years ago and I always wanted to make one. Not copy it, just use it for inspiration. At the WI trapper's convention last fall, I finally found a skunk pelt without a huge inspection window and with the feet and claws attached. I started the beadwork a couple weeks ago. I work on it a little here and a little there. The rosette will be sewed to the belly area. The triangular piece of beadwork will go on the tail. The legs will be wrapped with fringed leather and beads also. All the leather is braintan deer, it beads beautifully.

The bag with the red, white and blue beadwork is the original inspiration.

I like what you're doing and looks fine now.

Please show the finished pouch. It sounds like it should turn out really nice.

I've made some more progress on the pouch. I finished up the bead work around the slit opening. I sewed the rosette onto the fur and I attached the beaded tail piece. I just need to wrap and bead the legs and add a few decorations at the bottom of the slit and the center of the rosette. I am hoping to have it finished up in the next week or so.

I will definitely post pictures of the pouch when I am done with it.

I finally got all of the little touches done. I am happy with it for sure. There are definitely some things I would do differently next time. Now to make a display case for it.
