Logo rifle?

Hello.  This question has probably been asked before but after I used the search function I came up dry. What is the rifle (style/type) in the American Longrifles logo  Thanks, Jack.

I believe that gun was built by Mark Elliot - if you go to the ALR Home page above you will find a link to his website with photos of more guns of that style (real nice work, too!).  It is a southwestern Virgnia late flint ("mountain") rifle.  A similar rifle could have hailed from just about anywhere in the southern Appalachians near where Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina border up against each other, in the 1820s or later era.

He's a link to Mark's website.  click on the S.W. VA Rifle on the left side of the page.  Welcome to the board.

Also check out the "Virtual Museum" on this board - look under "Southern Exhibits" - there are a number of good original iron mounted southern Appalachian guns shown that will give you a feel for the diversity of styles.
