Thought i'd post my latest rifle. Just a plain hunting rifle .54 cal getz barrel swamped 34 in. chambers, germanic lock, american walnut stock 13 1/2 pull, hand forged wrought iron mounts fire blued. Horn muzzle cap weighs a shade over 8 pounds.

The fire bluing is very nicely done.
Your fine carving is eye pleasing. It appears to float on the surface as is correct.
The under cut cheekpiece is a nice feature , too.
I am sure your quite proud of it (and rightly so!)
I have to believe the carving near the wrist with those knots was no picnic also.
Is the barrel charcoal blued or is it rust blued? It seems to have some mottling so I cannot tell.
The rifle gives an overall solid ready to take on anything feeling, nicely done.

Thanks everyone, sorry it took so long to get back. For the questions, its black walnut, and everything is fire blued. The knots did not show on the outside of the plank at all. Ive got a longrifle started based loosley on RCA 124 from the same plank. By the way, I cut the planks from a large down tree on top of Black Mtn. on the Ky. Va. border during a bear hunt. Its hard and dense for black walnut, also carves very well, till you find some knots!   Keith

Great, I love the lines on that rifle and have been planning on building one for the the last 2 years and have not started it yet! I blew up photo's of it and made a profile template and that's as far as I have gotten. I would love to see it when you finish it.

Dennis,
That barrel and blank I got from you to make an RCA124 is still sitting on my bench! It'll be number two in line when I get back!

Yeah Eric I got a 46.5" barrel and the early ketland lock is ready if I ever get caught up! Always more projects than time!

Hope you are home soon.
