What do you use to finish your antler tips to get an aged finish? Dye, Potassium Nitrate, other? How about horn?

A low simmer on the stove using cider vinegar and 4 tea bags per quart of vinegar. This will take about an hour. Try to get tiny bubbles instead of a hard messy boil. The color will actually penetrate the antler material deeper than most any other method. Remove the antler material when it reaches a color 2 or 3 shades lighter than what you want. Let it dry then scrub lightly with 4/0 steel wool. Stains and dyes will actually wear off rather quickly. Stains are really good for staining things that you don’t want stained too. I do not recommend staining. Nix the stain recommendation………..
