How many rod pipes do you see
« on: March 25, 2022, 02:39:10 AM »
I'm building this English inspired ( William Turvey ) rifle  from the photos in RCA Vol 1 Number 14 and between my fuzzy vision and maybe photo sharpness I can only see one rod pipe after the entry pipe. If someone has a clearer picture or better eyes can you check and see how many there are? Thanks in advance for any help.  :)

Barrel is only 28” long. Looks like entry thimble and muzzle thimble only.

Yes and thats what I thought for the same reason. The other pics show what looks like a barrel pin near the muzzle but another pic shows what looks like a wedge key coming in from the lock side behind the entry pipe. What am I looking at there? My barrel is 30 or 31 inches long so will that look too bad with only the two RR pipes?

Hi Smylee,
I think those extra pins may have something to do with restoration or repair on that rifle.

OK Dave that sounds like a possibility. I also see what looks like the head on the  forward barrel key in front of the forward RR pipe and it looks smaller than the head on the one to the rear of the entry pipe. Would that be common? Then there is the screw in the top of the butt plate and not through the actual heel.
