  • There's more than one way to skin a cat.
Please look at my third practice carving. It's 1/32" high and done on a curves surface shape like the pistol stock. I think it's starting to look right.I hope I'm not boring you guys. Your critiques, comments and suggestions on my earlier attempts have been a big help. A couple of more practice rounds and I think I'll dare start caving the pistol. Critiques, comments and suggestions welcome.

Please look closely at the lowest leaf on the final. I think I went to deep and the sculpting looks wrong. Suggestions??

Best regards
Rolfkt

This is much better.  My comment is that you still have lines on the elements that are too close to parallel.  These are supposed to be vines and leaves that get wider as they go.

Looking good.  Just a little fiddling around and you'll be there.  It's a good strategy to practice and get critiques.  Well done.
