Ah, Yip!  You need to find an old bolt.  Cut it in half and spot glue the halves on either side of the stock.  The rustier, the better.

And what's wrong with a little bit of belly?  We are old enough now to have earned a bit of "energy stowage".

You really have done a marvelous job on that rifle, and it seems to shoot pretty doggone well!
