Just thought I'd throw this up and see what everyone thinks,  I'm currently building a rather short but handy feeling smooth rifle, but I think it's a kind of quirky and neat gun, I'm sure it'll find a home somewhere! I'll be adding in some wire inlay as well

ettoreR. Good morning Sir. Great detail in your wood carving. Well executed, I like it. Also like the engraving. Thank for sharing. Looking forward to see finished rifle.  Have a nice week end. AJ.

You’re good at carving.  It shows some great depth.  Your engraving is better than most originals from the reference material I have studied. Your cheek piece needs something.  Maybe the experts can chime in.  What gun are you referencing?

Thank you very much! I glad to hear it, and the cheek piece hasn't been touched yet because  I'm planning out what i will add to it currently, seeing as I am not necessarily refencing any particular style, I'm working from scratch. I think the cheek is the last spot on the gun that I am going to touch, ill post more once I've got it!

Nicely done. I agree with your assessment of maybe slightly quirky "ish" , but I actually like to see some self expression and the quality that I'm seeing both in layout and skill will insure a pretty nice piece. Anxious to see what you finally do.

That is some lovely carving.  Nicely created and executed.  It appears that you worked on a fairly straight-grained versus curly piece of wood.  I applaud that, as such intricate carving can fight visually with lots of curl.  God Bless,   Marc

Your contemporary style on the carving is something I would expect on the Headboard of a very fine bed. The carving and engraving look well done and finished clean. I don't know if I would call it traditional but I would call it nicely done. Nice workmanship.  :)

Very elaborate carving, with German-esk flavour, to me.

Hi,
Lovely carving.  It really should be on the mantle over a Victorian fire place.

Wonderful carving- reminds me of fine furniture. You could probably do some really lovely ball-and-claw stuff :-)
The cheek piece looks like the highest one i have seen. But it allows plenty of carving space beneath it!

Very well executed carving. Will have to see it finished.
