Isaac Haines Kit complete
« on: May 03, 2022, 09:03:43 PM »
Got some time to kill on a cold rainy day in Michigan (again)! This is an Isaac Haines rifle I completed in March from a Chambers kit. It is a .54 caliber x 38" Rice barrel and Deluxe Siler flintlock. I combined elements from several different Haines rifles of the period.
This project started a long discussion here earlier, on the challenges faced with kit guns. I got all the kinks worked out just fine, but I still prefer to work from a blank!
Feel free to question or comment!

These following pics show it with a darker, final stain as requested by my customer.

Nifty carving and engraving.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Nicely done, Tom!  Rocking’ the carving and engraving, certainly captured the Haines style.  Best,
