Took the Kibler out today

I took the Kibler Colonial out today for the first time. Worked flawlessly as it should. Great day at the range

What calibre is your rifle?

.54, 65 and 70 grains. Right on at 50 yards about 2 inches to the right. I didn’t have a whole lot of time. Shot 12 rounds. Gonna run about 50 rounds or so through her before I start messing around with the sights. Nice ball and patch combo. Spit patch NO swabbing between shots. Lock action was Fast and smooth. I did a lot of polishing on the lock innards

Thanks Hanshi, I’m really happy with the way it came. Really would have liked to put some inlays in but just wasn’t confident enough. Figure I’d let the grain and architecture speak for itself. Gonna go for next time though.

thanks guys, I had her out again yesterday. performed flawlessly as it should! I really like this Rifle. I also have the SMR in .36...

I shot my SMR in 45 caliber at a local match this past Saturday and it was no problems.  I shot around 25 shots and only had one flash in the pan (breech plug needed scraped towards the end).  I use moose milk on the patch.

  Every time I shoot this rifle if I do my part it does it's part. I see guys with percussion rifles struggle with misfires.  I try to tell them its that swabbing between shots that is their problem. They must be shoving fouling it the drum area. If I swab I do it while seating the ball. But using a wet lube swabbing is not required till the face of the breech plug becomes fouled...............Bob

I agree that misfires are rare when there is no swabbing.  I've not had to do any scraping in my flinters though. I do not know the physics of having to scrap, unless
there is a fouling buildup that blocks the vent liner?

I had a .32 that used to build up fouling on the face of the breach to the extent that the vent would be blocked     It's the only gun I've had that did that and I could never figure out why or how to prevent it .

I picked up a really nice Bucks county rifle .58 cal years ago that was giving me a problem down there. I shined I light down the barrel something didn’t look right so I pulled the breech plug and low and behold when the builder drilled out for the touch hole liner he drilled across the face of the plug. I had a friend who filled it with a Weld then I polished it and all was good from there on.
