barrel keys installation

Yes I've done it but not my favorite thing to do. Any good tips on cutting and installing barrel keys? I've got a good jig for octagon barrels but this is a round barrel.

There is a great tutorial section on many subjects. Here is an excellent one on barrel keys that I’ve used with great success.

I will not attempt to use keys on a precarve.  With a squared up stock and a drillpress it is all about meaurement.
Quality, schedule, price; Pick any two.

I seem to recall using a half round Barrel at one time and folding the front  lugs out of sheet with longer “ ears”  and soldering them to the barrel.  Apparently they worked ok..no one has complained.
