First round barrel

I'm about to embark on a new journey - building a fowler with a round barrel. Should I file a flat on the side of the barrel for the lock to fit against? This will also have a vent liner.

hi,
Yes, a flat must be filed as you can see on the original round fowler barrel on the right.
This series of tutorial may help you on this project.
