When did attaching sights and barrel lugs on thin round barrels become the norm?
How where they attached before solder was invented?
When was it invented for gun work
Couldnt find much info on it

Barrel Bands. Smart Dog has had some discussion of this in the past.

I would be really surprised if the Romans didn't use solder. Search for ancient jewelry. I'd bet you'd find some solder use going way back. On barrels? Haven't a clue.

I think solder and copper "brazing" have been around longer than gun barrels, Elk.

Per Kit Ravenshire, Brown Bess lugs were dovetailed and brazed.
