Raffle Rifle
« on: September 17, 2022, 03:36:30 AM »
Just finished up a rifle that I am donating in entirety to our local Flax Scutching Festival to raffle off next year. It doesn't hold a candle to a lot of people's work on here, but I am happy with it. It was a fantastic build from a blank project (175 hours), with a JP Beck influence (Festival didn't have any preferences). Every build is a chance to get better!

Very nicely done. I really like the dark finish on the stock.

It is a great thing to donate this rifle to the Flax Scutching Festival (whatever that is). You did a fine job.
Just wondering how you keep track of time spent, and why do you bother to?

It's very interesting that there's still a flax scutching festival these days. I love my linen summer shirts.

Thanks for the comments all. I kept track of the hours so that our organization could display the rifle as a “value of.” I have also kept track of hours in a project just for my own records. Kind of neat to find trends and see how things speed up and slow down as I learn more.

PS—Flax Scutching is the process of making flax into linen!

Thanks, Wayne! You and Mike were on my mind as I was using methods that you taught me during the build from a blank class last october!

Best,
Allen (Guy)

Congratulations on a wonderful concept and a very nice build.  On your next rifle(s), I suggest you inlet the tail of the trigger guard into the stock.
