Long time lurker, but this is my first post. I am collecting information and parts for my first actual all-built-from-parts rifle. I will have a ton of questions in the future, but still researching a little....
what does 'CH' and "CL' mean on a butt plate? Muzzleloader Builders Supply has Christian Oerter butt plates, just trying to decide which one I like.
I am not PC/HC, just want to have fun. Aiming for a kinda Christian's Spring/Moravian/Early colonial sorta rifle.
Thanks.

First, welcome to the site. There's much to be gleaned here and perhaps the most valuable asset is the inspiration one gets to improve upon his work.

I'm guessing CH means comb height and CL means comb length. But then... I don't speak in "modern abbreviation speak".

Welcome, and stick around. There's lots of info here given freely, and lot's of opinions,,, given freely as well!
And don't forget to look over on the Antiqued Gun Collecting section to get a good look at what the old ones actually look like.

Welcome!! Prepare yourself to develop a problem with becoming inspired by these folks' work. The functional art they create really is mind blowing.
