I bought a 1/2 stock rifle with a 7/8" .50 cal. bl. that had a deep dovetail for the barrel attachment escutcheon. In working up a load for it using 3F, when I got to 80gr., the barrel bulged
out in that dovetail. When I next loaded it, I could feel it as the patched ball went down the tube. I pulled the ball, dumped the powder, cleaned the barrel, but it in 1/2 and installed a different barrel on the rifle.
