I traded into a rifle, I'd like to see if I can find out who made it and when.
She has some unique features.
There are some initials stamped into the butt plate and scratched into the stock under the butt plate.
I think: RKER, the stamped numbers also have a Go, and a PA, in the stamping just can't make out the rest.
The butt plate is a 2 piece yellow brass job, brazed together, still flux in the joint.
The way the toe plate, and the butt plate come together is "greek" to me, never seen it done that way.
The inletting is very good, but I'm not sure why all of the lines are scribed in the barrel channel, measuring?
The "keys" are captured definitely homebrewed, he didn't get the grooves exactly in the middle of the key. LOL
A unique ramrod tip.
I know it's a no-no, but I took the rifle apart, went over the iron parts with a copper pad, and some Kroil.
Didn't, hurt the finish, but got rid of the roughness, she shines now.
Left the brass alone.
Took a run at the stock with some 4 ought steel wool, which smoothed up the finish, then hit it with a beeswax polish.
The stock is fiddleback, not a painted-on stain.
I'm pretty happy about the whole deal. No sights, but I'll make a new set, easy-peasy-japan-easy. lol
