Since it's a decent Indiana gun, my stomping grounds, why not consider finding an original percussion lock to fill the mortise? It would look better than a modern lock, support gun's value better, and most good builders with some welding skills can easily modify an old lock's bolt hole location/thread, or lug cutout, to fit a different rifle's bolt and lug locations.
