Bighorn
« on: January 31, 2023, 04:38:50 AM »
This is Bighorn, largest I've made. 28" overall outside curve, 3 3/4" dia. at butt.
Black walnut from the Missouri Ozarks. The pins are mesquite thorns. It's the real thing, not plastic, I had to cut about 5-6" off the butt due to cracks. Excuse my messy bench.  ;)

It's just for a wall hanger and conversation piece, though I guess it could be used for powder  storage or even a wine horn.

I like it a lot!  Kinda makes me laugh too, because I keep thinking of a cartoon I (think) remember, with a kid outfitted in an oversized coonskin cap and a giant powder horn.  maybe it was a dream...
