Another Southern rifle

What can you guys tell me about this one?

I owned it many years ago. Sometime in the 1990s I took these pictures and sent them to Jim Whisker, but don’t know if he ever used them in his books.

As I remember, it was a pretty big gun overall, with a barrel about 45/46 inches long. No name on it.
It’s long gone now,, maybe one of you guys own it now?

Sorry for the poor quality pics, but they are pictures of the original B&W pics I have.

I think this is on back cover of my Gunsmiths of TN book, just out this montgh.

I can't really see any trait that identifies a builder or a geographic area to me.  That's one of those mixed bag guns.  You normally see these mixed up guns as later cap guns rather than a flint.  Nice rifle but hard to tell much from 3 pictures.  Sorry

Thanks Jim, I looked on the back of the book, and yes, it's there. It also looks better on the book than here.

Ken, I had some other pics of the rifle, but couldn't find them.
At the time I had it, I was thinking maybe a Carolina gun, mostly due to the pointy ends of the lock and side plate molding. Probably a farfetched thought!
