I did get out today, -9C, heavy snow.
Not sure if it was the high relative humidity, but I had serious fouling issues. 2 shots and it got very hard to load.
Patches saturated with TOW mink oil and I've used them before and could get at least 5-6 shots off before noticing anything, but not today.
In addition, I was shooting like $#@*. Had a couple of warm-up shots, seemed like I was in the ball park, took the first shot at the target and went '#$!?'. After 2 targets, shooting not improving, struggling with fouling and cold weather, I took out the .22 and shot nearly as bad....at 25 meters? Can't recall shooting this bad in a loooong time.
Packed up my gear, hopped over to the rimfire range and spent the next 30 mins just getting my sight picture back and was shooting decent groups at the end. At that point I was too cold and hungry to continue and called it a day.

Tks for getting out, Jakob. ;)
Usually, it's dry weather that causes fouling problems for most people.

Target printed, but we have a snow storm going on. Maybe a secluded spot in the pines will cooperate with my intentions to try this once more  :)

Well, I shot another target. Dropped a point from the first one I posted. The snow storm lasted all day, but my rifle functioned perfectly. My shooting sucked, though  ::)   Congrats to the winner. This target is a lot more difficult than it looks.

Finally, a Friday without rain and Marc and I made it to the range. Shot from a rest. Rice .40 square bottom rifling, 42 inch x 7/8 straight barrel. Sixty grains of GOEX FFFG. .390 ball with .018 canvas, Hoppes lube. Really nice spring day with overcast and 72F.

J.B.

Congratulations JBJ from North Carolina. You are the February winner & thus, your chore is to set up the March Match. This monthly competition has been going on every month now, for 3 full years.

I think I might play in March if it's not  bitter cold still.

Tarp and roasting pans full of hot coals, and after 4 days I finally thawed out the 4 wheeler enough to start.  Did some plowing, so now folks can drive in here again.
I'm not convinced that's a good thing  ;D
