Martin Shell inspired build

I created this rifle for a customer a couple years back. Detailed photos of Martin Shell rifles are scarce, necessitating a number of guesses. I have been attracted to this style patchbox for a very long time and this was the first rifle built in a style to use it. The barrel is a 40 cal Rice, 42 inches long, a modified Chambers Dale Johnson lock, Harrison Gunstocks blank, and hand made patch box. The inlays in the cheek rest, wrist and butt stock comb are sterling silver.

Ron, you shared pictures of this beautiful rifle with me privately back when you completed it and I just have to say that I have spent a lot of time admiring it ever since!

That is beautiful work. The carving especially the tapered lines on the bottom of the cheekpiece are ‘dead nuts on’. The filigree on the trigger is a nice touch. Everything on the rifle makes it an elegant and visually well balanced piece, thanks for sharing.
