Many years ago, I bought a 6" x 12" x .0625" thick sheet of pure silver, to be used for inlays, and it lasted for several years, but eventually, it was all gone. So I went to my source to buy another one, and found that the same sized sheet but only .032" thick was the same price as I paid for the thicker silver. So I bought the skinny stuff.
I much prefer to inlet 1/16" thick inlays than those of half the thickness. There is more metal to file and polish after inletting is done, and the ticker metal holds its shape better during the process. But if you're careful, the thinner silver will do you just fine, and as John says, is more hc. It occurred to me that I could solder the thinner silver to a piece of .032" thick brass, and get the same effect, though I have never stooped that low.
