A Couple More Painted Horns
« on: April 28, 2023, 07:02:28 PM »
The top one is about id about 14 1/2" around the outside curve and 12 tip-to-tip. The butt is Walnut hollowed out about 3/4s its length, it is about 2 1/2" in diameter. it is held in by 4 steel pins. The tip is two pieces of Antler pinned together with 3 wooden pegs and to the horn with 3 more. The bands were heated, pressed on and are secured with 3 Steel pins each.
The second is just about the same length in both measurements as is the Walnut butt, it is also hollowed out about 3/4s its length and is held by 3 Steel pins. The tip and bands were done the same as the one above. It does have more of a twist than it.

   Tim C.

PS: Thanks for the horns Johnny and the antler Wayne. TC

GREAT HORNS. I LOVE THEM.

What color/paint did you use?  I think that my antique horn was originally painted with a similar  color.

Thanks, that is "Sea Green" milk paint, with some Brown wax over it and buffed.
