Stock Repair on Bucks Co. Flintlock

Just got in a nice .50 Bucks Co. style rifle. Nice wood. Swamped barrel. There is what appears to be a repaired grain crack along the forestock ahead of the trigger guard. Kind of wavy looking. Wondering if this happened during shaping of stock and repair made with some kind of reddish epoxy. Any thoughts? Seems stable enough.

To me, that looks like it might be a natural crack in the wood. Take the barrel out and see what it looks like in the barrel channel, maybe add some glue if needed.
I have to say that's some strange shaping done on that stock. ;-)

John. The crack is smooth and filled with - something. Can't get my fingernail to catch an edge. May take a look inside to verify.

I don't think it's a repaired crack at all. I think it is simply figure in the wood.

Kinda hard to tell from the pics but that line, to me anyway, appears to be a bark inclusion. Here is an extreme example:
The bulge in the forestock at the ramrod pipe entry thimble imo may have been the makers solution to use the stock blank with the inclusion. Thinning that area down could have opened the inclusion thereby making the blank unusable.

Closest thing I could come up with. Patchbox and trigger guard seem typical of many Bucks Co. Rifles. Buttstock kinda clunky. I guess lots of these older builds are kinda sorta guns.
