lines on butt stock

I am restocking a rifle mainly as a learning experience.  I left the profile over-sized to give me some wiggle room but now I need to take the lines down to their final shape- the stock is still in a plank form- that is the two sides are flat and parallel to one another.

From the butt of the stock- there is the one line along the comb, and then at the toe, the under side line.  I read some place that these two lines are to intersect at a particular point- the tang?  In any event what is the intersection point that establishes the two lines?

If I understand your question correctly, the intersecting point would depend on the style rifle you are building.  Right now I am finishing up a fullstock, late percussion WV rifle.  The intyersecting point for that rifle would be about 1 inch in front of the drum.  For the early lancaster rifle I built it iis at the tail of the lock plate.  I often use this method when I am trying to copy a gun that I only have pictures of. Look at the style rifle you are trying to reproduce and go from there.
