I was browsing the hardwood lumber at my local big box store, and found a 10" X 1" X 8' board with curly figure in the random oak pile.   It doesn't show very well in the picture, but the curl goes all the way across the width of the board over most of its length.   I didn't need it for anything right away, but it should make some nice accoutrements in the future.   I'm a sucker for pretty wood.

That is cool, I realize things like that to.  We rented a U-Haul truck a while back, and I saw the wood planks in the back had some nice curl in them, a darn shame.....could have been much beter used.  What could you use oak for, I am not sure, bullet boards, maybe axe handles?  Great find, looks nice, congrats on saving it from a horible fate in the back of a mooving truck..

Depending on that knot, I see a beautiful shooting box in that board. If the knot is a real pain in the hiney, then severalpistol loading stands could be hidden in that board, at a modest premium.

Heck, thinking outside the box a little, even the knot might be able to be used to a decorative advantage...fill it with clear acrylic or whatever
