This one is after a horn on pages 36-37 of Dr, Hopkins'
Bone Tipped and Banded Horns Pt II, it is identified as a Piedmont North Carolina horn.
It is about 16" around the outside curve and 12" tip-to-tip. The butt is Walnut and is 2 1/4" in diameter and is hollowed out about 3/4s its length. It is held in by 3 Iron nails that also hold the base band in place. It has a Brass tack in the finial as did the original. The tip is made up of a collar made from Whitetail antler and a tip made from cow horn. The tip is threaded to the collar and the collar is pinned to the horn with 3 wooden pegs. On the original the collar was threaded and screwed on to the horn. Color is AF and brown shoe polish.
