July rifle class
« on: July 22, 2023, 01:59:02 AM »
I had two students in my July class and they both made very good progress on their projects. Scott is building a Lancaster rifle from a pre carved kit and David is building a Woodberry rifle based on Hershel’s design. David is working from a blank and this is his first build. He hand inlet the barrel, drilled the ram rod hole, inlet the lock and cut out the stock profile. Scott got his barrel and tang inlet, lock and triggers in, lock in, butt plate and pipes and the nose cap installed and riveted on. Both guys did great and were a pleasure to have in class.

Jim is a good teacher, patient and good at explaining what should be done and how it can be done. We have many fine gun builders here, but teaching well is an art of its own.

In grateful appreciation of everyone's contributions to our knowledge,
Carl
