This rifle has a breech plug with a cast hook that fits a corresponding standing breech tang...so it's a hooked breech.

Inspiring work as always, Taylor! Your vocation & devotion shine through. I always just feel better after looking at one of your pieces.
You may have cut it down, but it is still a hefty rifle. Not a bad trait for a single-shot rifle in the "Wild Country."

Clean. Elegant. Meticulous. Desirable. Typical of your work Taylor. God bless, Marc

That rifle looks great in the pictures, Taylor.
Guys, it even looks and feels better in the hand.
I had the pleasure of doing just that, at our Annual Rendezvous, July 1st weekend.
It was hanging in Taylor's wall tent.

Looks awesome, Taylor.
This rifle and others made by Taylor shows the world what the thinks of himself as the maker and for the man who commissioned him to do it.I am more than pleased to see one of my locks was used on this job.I also had a friend who was the same height as the owner of this rifle,
big Bill Hendersen who weighed 368 pounds which was down from 416 he said. His wife was 4' 11'.
