I haven’t thinned Chambers Oil but have used Permalyn Sealer for two to three coats, and then applied Chambers Oil over that for three to four more.

I have a can near half full, but has seemed to thicken up some.  I just thought maybe thinning would make it more like new.  I hate to waste it?
Then again, I really hate to ruin all this work I have in this gun and have to try and remove a bad finish?

I always use a fresh can of Chambers oil on a build. It’s only a few bucks.

What would you use to thin the oil?

I bought a Qt of pure 100 mineral spirits product at a special paint store.
I believe it is the stuff they tell ya to use when you but a can.  It is paint thinner / mineral spriits, 100%.
I showed the paper to the guy at the store and he said he had it.
So I tried thinning some this morning and tried it on a pc of scrap.  Looks fine to me,
It labeled  "STARTEX" Premium Paint Thinner, 100% Mineral Spirits.
Doesn't say anything about VOC or any of that stuff mentioned in the paper the Chambers Oil comes with?

I know it's only a few bucks, but then it's a few more bucks to ship it.  A few bucks add up for me too fast.  Especially with all this inflation.Everything is alot more than a few bucks more.  I figure if the stuff will still be ok I'm gonna use it.

Just the way I was raised and came up with about nothing extra.  We had everything we needed, but not everything we wanted.
Thanks to all

Jim Chambers told me that you can thin the finish with mineral spirits. The good old kind not the new "greener" version of mineral spirits.

Bigmon, You are absolutely right, what used to be a few bucks, is now much more bucks.  I have been using Waterlox for my first 3 coats or so, then topped off with maybe 3-4 coats of Chambers.  I have been happy with the results.  But with Chambers oil north of $20 and Waterlox close to $40 a quart, there is no way 'm spending that kind of coin just to finish one gun.  I purchased one a 12 pack of the small ball jelly canning jars.  Divide the new finishes into them, top off the headspace with Argon from my TIG torch (you could use the Bloxogen here), then I vacuum seal each one in a food saver bag.  Been doing this for a couple of years with great results.

I started finishing a stock a few days ago. It is currently so hot here. I should have thinned it. I thought you could use turpentine? It was getting gummy before I finished sanding it back.

I am using the pure mineral spirits product I previously named.  It is working great for a little thinning and clean-up.  Must be the correct stuff.
Also, I have to say that of all different finishes I have used over the years, this Chambers Oil works best for me.  It seems near idiot proof.  I just can't seem to mess it up?  I can flood it on a couple coats, and now I have been hard hand rubbing it in very thin coats.  And it is working ok.  No finger prints, no fuzz, no steel wool stuck in the finish.  Just nice finish with out the so called "cheap shoe shine"
When I am finished I will rub it out a little and wax the heck out of it.  And it will be finished as far as I am concerned.
