I had one of his catalogs in the early 80's. His prices started at 3K back then. I have no idea what a gun like this is worth these days. That kind of money will put you into today's top builders.

If his prices started at 3k back then, then maybe their asking price probably close to it's current value.

Interesting the value calculator says
$3,000 in 1980 equals $11,608.75 in 2023.

One almost like that just sold 2 days ago on Gunbroker for $3400 plus fees(about $3900).  It was built in 1978 and a replica of the Verner rifle with his name on the patchbox lid.  No one would bid $3850 so the seller lowered the opening bid to $3400 and someone bit.   
     Log Cabin's info on the ad is wrong.  The rifle in the book has Verner's name on the lid.  Their's doesn't.

Prices for contemporary guns are all over the place. There are high quality guns out there from several very talented makers. The name on the top flat is where the rubber meets the road.

Interesting, I lived where he went to High School  Selma, Ind 



Muncie- Jerry A. Kirklin, 83, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Muncie on October 7, 1938, the son of Jay and Helen (Read) Kirklin and graduated from Selma High School in 1956.

Jerry studied engineering at Purdue University before graduating from Dayton Art Institute with a degree in Industrial Design. He moved to Birmingham, Michigan in 1964 to begin work at Chrysler Corporation in exterior styling of future car designs. Jerry became self-employed in 1975 building Kentucky rifles and model train layouts.

A masterpiece rifle by a nationally known top builder. Yes, it has to be rated by today. How well does it stand up.

I haven't seen the original except in pictures. Like most contemporary work it seems to put the original to shame. Way above my pay grade.
